As of September 2023, the overall average bounce rate for various e-commerce industries worldwide is 38.7% .
Statista further broke down the average bounce rate by industry category. Unfortunately, the health and beauty sector leads the pack with a bounce rate of 51.6%. Electronics and home goods follow closely behind with bounce rates of 46.6% and 41.6%, respectively.

Things That Make People Jump
When it comes to people staying on your site, user experience can be a huge factor .
Think about it: If your site visitors how can an entrepreneur combat burnout? don’t know what they should do, can’t find what they’re looking for, or are distracted by too many other things on your page, they’re likely to leave and look for answers elsewhere.
Let’s look at some UX issues that cause users to bounce from your page or leave it too early.
1. Hard to read text
Huge blocks of text, small text, videos or phone number database carousel text that scroll too fast, unconventional or ugly fonts (I’m looking at you, C omic S answer), too many cute gifs and emojis – all of these make the text difficult to read. This leads to a negative user experience and a high bounce rate.

The text should be broken up into small paragraphs of no more than two or three sentences. Wix recommends using no more than three sans-serif fonts on a site (but not Comic Sans) and keeping their size to no less than 16 points.
2. Poor landing page design
Website visitors often find landing pages through SEO or paid advertising services such as Google Adwords.

Cluttered designs and unclear calls to action are a recipe for high bounce rates. The best way to get people to stay on your site and convert is to remove distractions.
