Mobile-First: Google’s new indexing
You may have heard or read something about this Mobile-First thing that Google published on its blog and you are not quite sure what it really means. Right?
Well to explain it to you
The simplest way possible and how this affects SEO .
How do Google searches work?
To begin with, it is important to understand that Google crawls the web pages that exist on the Internet (note, those that allow themselves to be crawled to create an “index” where all this information can be organized; as if it were the index of a book.
The information stored in this index is then used to create the search engine results pages. In other words, your page will be ranked higher or lower in the Google search engine depending on the information stored in its index from when it crawled your website.
The meat of the matter lies
Until now, this index used information crawled from the Desktop version of your website. That is, the one you see from your computer or laptop. And right now they are experimenting with a new index using information crawled from the Mobile version of your website. That is, the one you see from your mobile phone.
The importance of Mobile-First
I have the feeling that the news about Mobile-First indexing has had much less impact than, for example, the launch of Google Penguin 4.0. And I am surprised because I think (in my humble opinion) that it is big news, even if it may have little impact at the SEO level (in theory).
I don’t know about you, but I browse a lot on my phone. Even when I’m at home, because if I go to the bathroom I take my phone with me instead of reading a book or the label on my shower gel.
